I didn't follow the links you posted, but I imagine what is being said is that without 3G (cell service) you can't use the network everywhere - only somewhere that has internet access for you to use. ![]() Wireless - on the Fire side of things wireless is built-in, and had no problems connecting to my home wpa2 network. It just got to the point where I thought why should I own something I just get frustrated with? ![]() The icon was just a generic icon, and is not changeable.Īll in all, probably good considering the cost, but even though I can't afford to spend more I took mine back because of the above and other little things that became quite annoying. Instead it was inside the Gallery app and just showed as video1 or movie1 (don't remember which). Couldn't find it under Videos where the Amazon-purchased movies go. As an example, I ripped a DVD to mpeg4 then via USB moved it to the Kindle. There are also some quirky things they've done to try to restrict you to Amazon's movies, books, etc. I had nothing but problems trying to tap, scroll, etc., reliably. The touch screen doesn't seem very good to me. I had one for about 4 weeks, then took it back this week.
